Hello Autumn!

by - Thursday, September 19, 2013

Good afternoon, there! So, we all know (if you follow me on Facebook & Instagram) that I have been rather against the end of summer... Autumn has hit like a slap in the face but I'm finally ready to forgive it's abrupt entrance and embrace it like I usually do. I've finally got used to not being out in the garden and I'm really starting to enjoy having the bedroom fairy lights on first thing in the morning, with the 'nice warm house' smell emitting from the radiators. Roma is loving the heating being on too; every morning she's got her head and toes pressed up against the bedroom radiator with a content grin on her face. It's a good life being a cat, eh?

Ok, so I'm not looking forward to the dark mornings, dark afternoons and how damn cold our old house gets over winter, but there are SO many things that I love about autumn...

...wrapping up warm in your favourite chunky jumpers...

...marshmallows & bonfires...

...autumn harvests...

...lighting candles & curling up under thick blankets...

...wearing your hair down so it keeps your neck toasty...

...that fresh, crisp chill in the morning air...

...thick socks in ankle boots...

...hands wrapped around a mug of mulled cider...

...rose hips in the hedgerows...

...browns, burgundys, creams and golds...

...checks, herringbones, tweeds and wools...

...being safe inside while the rain hammers down...

...casseroles, stews, risottos and pies...

...flushed cheeks and knitted hats...

...pumpkin carving with your beau...
...countryside foraging...

...the way that nature turns to a copper wonderland...

...the smell of coal fires drifting on the breeze...

...conker collecting...

...but shhh! Don't tell summer! I still want her to come back next June!

What are your plans for the glorious golden season?

  1. Lovely outfit - I'm not looking forward to the shorter days too - but the cooler weather is welcomed - we don't get very cold winters here! I am delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,

    1. Thanks Kathy! I know, I will really miss waking up to the birds singing and the sunlight streaming through the windows, but cosy winter evenings aren't all that bad at least! :)
