Afternoon friends! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Our sleepovers went wonderfully, with lots of lovely food and drink too. I'd quite like to go back to Friday night and start it all over again!So, my Sunday afternoon was spent staining the wood for our mantelpiece. Due to some gorgeous weather I set myself up on the garden table, with the sunlight dancing on the fence and a fresh autumn nip in the air.
Well good afternoon there! As you may have noticed from my blogging absence things have been rather busy this last week! The first time I sat down all weekend was late on Sunday afternoon, so with that and the darker mornings now I've been pretty tired the last few days.
Good afternoon my friend! As you may remember, we started prepping the garden for spring recently, which you can read about here. Unfortunately our work got rained off, but we finally managed to progress with the spring planting yesterday. To be honest it's been quite nice doing this job in stages, as I've heard planting bulbs can be rather laborious. So far I've been enjoying it, so I'm hopefully doing something right! (Or very wrong!?)
Hello there! Is it just me or has autumn shoved it's way in faster than you can say 'Go away I'm not ready!?' Although, not even autumn. Is it just me or has it suddenly become winter? It barely feels like I've had the sun on my face and we've now been thrown back into keeping the curtains closed in the mornings, having the heating on, popping every single fairy light on that we have and sharing the bed with Roma, who now wants our body heat!
Hello there, and happy Monday everyone! I'm a little late (When did it get to mid September!???) but my August Garden photos are here. Since my July Garden post, I'd been expecting even more growth and flowering in August, but to be honest, not much more has happened. Everything has just been poodling along happily, enjoying the warm weather and continuing looking nice for me every day. The only flowers that have really improved have been my yellow rose and the fuchsias.

I know that it's going to take time, and a lot more work to get it to how I'd like it, but it was just, so, green. I bought loads of bedding plants and put them in last month but they're just not cutting it, you don't really notice them when you look around. There is still too much green!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. P was away for pretty much all of it so I had two days to fill with whatever I wanted... oh the pottering freedom!
I did some bedding plant shopping and planting up with Mummy Badger, and we put in some pastel coloured petunias and some dahlias too. I also stole this cutting from her snowball plant when I was at hers that morning... I just couldn't resist. It's so pretty in all it's pom-pom beauty!
Back to work after a lovely long weekend... I don't know about you but I'm already awaiting the next one!
For you today, I've got a wee makeover project. P and I have had some old, tired and very scruffy rattan garden chairs for rather a while, and it's safe to say, they're past it. We'd resorted to shoving them up the end of the patio in a heap as we didn't quite want to get rid of the only garden seating we had at the time. After a conversation about not wanting to dump them, my Aunt made a suggestion and suddenly I could see some potential in the tatty old rattans. So, in the spirit of upcycling, I decided to give them a makeover to brighten them, and perhaps our whole garden up.

So, with National Gardening Week fast approaching, and the weather just about summering up, I'm getting a wee bit excited to get outside. So it's all rather serendipedy that NGW runs from Monday 15th April to Sunday the 21st... i.e. In a week's time!
Home-making on a Budget
As you all know, (especially if you follow me on Instagram) P and I have just moved in together into a post-war house that hasn't seen a decorator in quite some time. We're slowly doing it up, and turning it into our home, but I've been thinking recently about where I'm getting my inspiration from. I'm an avid reader of Homes & Antiques Magazine, and if another home or garden glossy grabs my attention, I'll have my paws on that equally as fast!
