One Year
One year. One. Year.
Two little tiny words that describe a very big thing. So much can change in a year, and for me, so much has.
Yes, there are the milestones (wedding), there are the big decisions (job) and there are all the other physical bits in between. But, what about the invisible bits? The lessons learned, the plans put in place and the goals pencilled in - the true essence of what makes up our daily life and defines who we are.
The ideas we have, the reasons for decisions we make, the things our hearts yearn for; no-one can see these and sometimes, from the outside, it may even look like they're not there. But they are, they always are. They always have been, and always will be. It's human nature to dream, to aspire and to yearn. But it's human power that makes those things happen; that drags ideas out of the dust, that makes drawings leap from the pages, that turns dreams into being.
And those two little words representing one very big year become vital to knowing how you made it to where you are now - and even to where you're heading. The biggest thing this past year has taught me is to trust myself. To trust my instincts, to believe in my reasons and to fight for what I know is right. To never ignore what my heart tells me and to always do what makes my soul happy. To be myself (because everyone else is already taken - Oscar Wilde), to support myself and more importantly, love myself. I know who I am and why I am here, and I know deep down that the values in which I believe and trust, are right for me and will lay the foundations for everything that I do.
I'd say that's quite a lot for two little words to achieve - but they really have. They've made me who I am, got me to where I am and helped me decide where I am going from here.
And more importantly, they've made me know that we should all do this together, for each other, and for ourselves. We should bring passion, bring strength, bring fire to everything we do. Grab life by the proverbials and take charge, because we only get the one chance so let's make it count!
I genuinely love and thank all of you out there who take the time to read, to share and to support me and my blog. Yes, I do it for myself but it sure does make it more fun to have you guys right there by my side, every step of the way.
After all, I'm here, you're here, so let's take a big new word to throw into everything we do. And that word, is GUSTO! Let's do everything with gusto and we'll get there in the end. More importantly, we'll get there together, shouting HELL YEAH!
Let's do this!!!
