Hello there!
I hope you're all having a fabulous short week.

I can't believe it's that time already but I am so, so pleased that it is! One of my favourite things is walking around the garden to see what's changed each month and I'm always pleasantly surprised. This will be a weekly ritual for me now up until autumn, the best time being early morning when the sun is shining and the dew is fresh; the air is crisp but beginning to warm and the atmosphere is still, with the promise of life awakening slowly all around.

Plants are flowering now all over the place and I'm loving every second. I'd momentarily forgotten about the beautiful Dicentra (Bleeding Hearts - Above) that pops up at this time of year, it's been one of my favourites since I was a child.

The tulips we put in last October are thriving. This red variety is bigger than my fist and it is just gorgeous.

The Hydrangeas are coming along nicely. I got just 2 flowers from this one last year though so I'm desperately hoping he's not going to do that to me again this year... Please, please!

That, my friends, is the first ever bud on my first ever Peony. I literally cannot wait! I bought her last year and have been waiting very patiently ever since to see her frilly white flowers. *crosses fingers*

Colour is popping up everywhere. Those blue Forget-Me-Not dots in the background will have to come out eventually as they always get too big to hold themselves up and flop all over the place. But for now, they're perfect so I will enjoy them while I can.

You are my sunshine! What a beauty.

Have a lovely week, all and it's nearly the bank holiday weekend! Yipeee!

  1. I'm envious. Here in the desert, most things planted just wither up and die. The 100+ heat and constant drought kills off all but the hardiest native plants. I mean, when the cactus started dying, that was my cue to just give up. I've wasted hundreds on plants that probably never had a chance.

    1. Hi Stephanie, sorry to hear about your struggles with the heat. I'm pretty sure I've wasted a lot of money in the past on plants that probably did have a chance but I didn't know how to look after them! This is all a learning curve for me that I'm thoroughly enjoying, just as long as I don't add up the receipts of all the plants that went wrong...! x
